Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up
February 28 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Join us for our first Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up of 2026 with our friends at the Chicago Waldorf School!
You will have the opportunity to:
- Drop off common household items for reuse, repurposing or specialty recycling with:
- Us (Reduce Waste Chicago😉) Check out our list of accepted items for all organizations
- Flat Can Recycling: Household hazardous waste and difficult to recycle items. Please note: Some accepted items are accepted for a fee. (Also, recent EPR legislation provides free options for disposal of household batteries and latex paint.)
- Cradles to Crayons: Clothing and shoes of all sizes/ages/genders and condition. Unwearable items will be recycled.
- Share Our Spare: Baby essentials, hygiene and feeding supplies, small and large gear.
- Cook County Sheriff’s Office: Unwanted or expired, human or pet, prescription drugs. Pills only. No liquid or sharps.
- Learn about composting services for your home, business, community or event with WasteNot Compost.
- Drop off clothing to be repaired and picked up later with Nandi of BLISS JOY BULL. Items will be mended off-site and you can pick them up at her shop in Edgewater, 1210 W. Granville Ave., West Commercial, about 3 weeks after the event. Please bring your items in a marked paper or cloth bag with your info attached. Please note Nandi practices visible mending; however, she’ll do her best for an inconspicuous mend if you prefer. Payment is due at drop-off.
Be sure to check out our updated list of accepted items before you leave home so your visit goes smoothly.
Help us divert materials from the landfill. You’ll spend a shift accepting, sorting or packing items (and meeting really cool people) — and you’ll end it knowing you made a difference.
Event access is through the main entrance of the school, off the playground on Foster Ave.
Located on the corner of Ashland and Foster, Chicago Waldorf School is easily accessible from the Clark (No. 22), Damen (No. 50) and Foster (No. 92) bus routes, and is a 10 minute walk from the Argyle Red Line stop.
